Financial aid; 7 Dec. 2004

    Dear Q&A,
    I am an international student already studying in the country. However my parents have been experiencing graet financial difficultiea nad I am therefore unable to pay my fees. Am currently enrolled in an Access Course and would like to go into nursing. I've worked hard in my course and would like nothing more than to study nursing at university. If there's anyone out there who can help in any way, I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Further studies in Fashion Design; 4 Sept 2004

Find Information; 17 May 2004

    Dear Q&A,
    I am from Belize and I am interested in studying in the Uk. I received some information but I would like to know if you can help me with additional information. I am interested in studying law at the university of Cambridge and I had received some information however not enough. I have a bachelor's Degree in English and a certificate in papralegal and I was told that those requirements would be sufficient. Oh. and knowledge of the English Language. I can speak English and Spanish.

    Anyways browsing through their site I found out that an exam has to be taken. Additionally for students not from the UK there were other centers the exam could be taken. Belize is not on the list.

    I know maybe through you is not the right avenue, but I have repeatedly emailed the university with these inquiries, but I have not received a response.

    I would really appreciate it if you could get some information for me, or someone at the university I can contact or speak to. Time is of the essence for me because the deadline for students outside the UK is in August.

    Hello!
    I am a international student and studying Masters of Pharmacology at Uni. of Hertfordshire. I want to join the Warwick Med School for its 4 year fast-track Medicine Course. And as i am doing Masters in Pharmacology, I am Elligible to apply for the Fast-track Medical Course.and I have contacted the uni. They also Said me same. and I have applied already.

    But according to the information i got, NHS bursaries are available for the funding for 2,3 &4 year. But can you say that any internationalstudent is elligible for it or not? and, please guide me about any type of scholarship or student-loan or grant is possible for me or not? and from where could I can get that?

    As I am International student the fees of medicine is too high. Please , guide me what should i do? I am stuck........ Your advice is very important for me as I am very keen to get admission in medicine.

    I will advice you to try "Skill" (Tel: 0800 328 5050), they help learners with disabilities and /or learning difficulties. They are the National Bureau for Students with Diabilities, They Provide a range of useful publications/leaflets for students with disabilities. I know you're they one with the disability. They will hopefully, be able to direct you to the right path. Also try Learning direct on 0800 100 900. Your local authority, should also be able to help you out. We will always get back to you, if we receive more information.

Thanks for your email. It is best to contact the university it'self. Visit their website. We have links to every university in the UK. Get hold of the head of the department you are interested in. He or she should be of help. Thanks for your time. I hope we have been of help. I believe some of our members go to LSE. You can email them and ask them questions about the university. I hope this is of help.

    Dear Q & A,
    Thank-you for the useful clearing update email. I dont know if you can help but I have rather a strange problem. My son Richard is 23 this year. He completed Advanced GNVQ Media Studies in 2001 and went off travelling. He is now working in France and wants to come back and to a degree in Computer graphics or something related to that. He did not apply through UCAS earlier this year. Can he now apply through clearing?

    I phoned alot of universities recently and i now know there are places at some universities, i asked three of them to send me a prospectus and only two have sent them! Wolvehampton and westminister have sent them and im waiting for Luton. Out of the three Luton sounds the most apealing! Once i get all the prospectus's should i ask to visit them? they are all doing clearing, but im hoping i might get in before then! I have the claering form, thats all the news i have so far.     Dear Larry,
    We do not offer students sponsorships. I have been receiving several emails regarding this issue. We are currently researching the area, so that students would be able to get more information about the topic. I will advice you to ring learn direct at 0800 100 900(this helpline can give you advice on getting financial help). Other ways, is to write to companies related to medicine. They may be able to assist you. Local libraries, also store sponsorship/scholarship books. Please, ask at your local library, for the following publications:
  • Educational Grants Directory (published by the Social Change).
  • Charities Digest (waterlow information services)
  • Grants Register (Macmillian Press)
  • The directory of grant Making Trusts ( Charities Aid Foundation)
    It is sometimes possible to get help from education trusts and charities who can choose to make awards to individual students on a case-by-case basis. These funds are usually quite limited but it is definitely worth enquiring about the help. As I already said, most libraries will have standard lists of trusts and your college may be able to give you details of others as well as local charities. Unfortunately, we students have to deal with tuition fees, and abolision of maintanance grants. Lets hope, letters like yours will make the goverment reconsider, the mess they are putting students through. I hope the above information is of help.
